Minor in Communication Arts and Sciences
In addition to the major, the Penn State York campus offers a minor in Communication Arts and Sciences. The minor recognizes the relevance of communication to other academic and practical pursuits.
A communication minor can aid students in their personal, occupational, and professional endeavors by providing opportunities to gain in their knowledge of communication and to develop their communicative skills. The minor consists of 18 credits of required and elective course work. Declare a CAS Minor.
An American Studies minor will complement your CAS coursework by giving you a broader and deeper understanding of American culture, which can be a great asset in the field of communication arts and sciences. In general, a minor is always a plus on your resume because it helps differentiate you from the crowd by showing that you have more than average curiosity and initiative.

A minor in English can complement your CAS major in a number of ways. For example, writing, technical, and creative courses complement the study of oral communication. In general, a minor is always a plus on your resume because it helps differentiate you from the crowd by showing that you have more than average curiosity and initiative.

"I added a CAS minor to my IST major because IST professionals have the negative stereotype of being unable to communicate with "real" people. Since I will have to communicate the technical aspects of my career with the business-minded individuals in a corporation, I will need to be able to do just that--communicate--in real time, face-to-face interactions. What better way to develop my communication skills than through a CAS minor that will also open myriad other professional doors for me?"

"I want to plan events or be an event coordinator after college and in addition to my Letter, Arts, and Sciences major, a minor in Communications will help me to achieve my future goals."
