General Help:
You have two ways of looking up courses in the Course Description Guide:
- Browse Courses: This page presents you with a list of all the subjects offered here at Penn State York. Clicking on a subject will show you all the courses under that subject.
- Search Courses: This page allows you to get a list of courses based on search criteria that you enter.
Browse Help:
To browse through the courses in the guide, click one of the course sections to list the different subjects, then click on a subject that interests you. For example, if you would like to see all the MATH courses, you would first click "Courses I-O" and then click "Mathematics (MATH)" to get a listing of all the MATH courses.

Troubleshooting
Having trouble getting the search to work? Answering these questions may fix your problem.
- Did you try to enter values for all the criteria? It isn't nessacary to fill all the information in. Just pick and choose what you want to search for. For example, if you just want to list all the IST courses just enter IST for the course abbreviation.
- Did you enter the incorrect abbreviation? (ie: BIO instead of BIOL)
- Did you use to fields that cancel each other out? For example, if you entered IST for the course abbreviation and picked the first letter as A-C then no course will come up. IST doesn't start with 'A', 'B', or 'C'.
Glossary
Course Abbreviation: If you would like to search for a type of course, enter it's abbreviation here. Using english as an example, ENGL would be the course abbreviation you would enter.
Course Number: If you would like to search for courses with a particular course number, enter the number here. For example, if you are looking for courses that have 100 for the number (ie: THEA 100), the you would enter 100 in this place. This is best used with a course abbreviation (ie: entering THEA for the course abbreviation and entereing 100 for the course number.)
First Letter: If you would like to list the courses by their first letter then select a letter range in the drop down box. For example, selecting "A-C" will show courses starting with the letters 'A', 'B', and 'C'.
General Requirement: If you would like to list the courses by the general requirements they fulfill then select a requirement in the drop down box. For example, if you need a Natural Science (GN) then you would select "Natural Science (GN)" from the drop down box.
Course Type: If you are looking for a particular type of course (ie: Honors, First Year Seminar, etc) then select it in this drop down box. For example, if you need to schedule a First Year Seminar then you would select "First Year Seminar" from the drop down box.
Keywords: If you are looking for a particular topic you can enter keywords in here. It will display any courses that have any of the keywords in the theme. For example, if you enter "networking" and "programming" a list of courses that involve networking and programming will appear.
