About the American Studies Minor
This interdisciplinary minor is for students who want to complement their major
program. Students in Business, Communication Arts and Sciences,
or any of a number of other programs will find that an American Studies minor helps build a context for future work. Students in English, Letters, Arts, and Sciences, or Communication
Arts and Sciences majors will gain new disciplinary perspectives on their major area of study.
An internship might draw the major and minor together in a single workplace experience.
To complete the minor successfully, a candidate must complete the course requirements with at least a C cumulative grade-point average. The minor consists of 18 credits.
American Studies Field Trip, Spring 2005
Since courses for the minor frequently double-count with courses for the major and general education, often students find that they need few additional credits to complete this minor. Only courses with grades of C or above will count for the minor.
