The Advising Award Subcommittee of the York Campus Senate is seeking nominations for the 2009 Academic Advising Award. Each year an Academic Advising Award is presented at the Penn Sate York annual awards banquet to a faculty member who has excelled in his or her advising of students.
Penn State York Campus values quality academic advising. The Academic Advising Award recognizes the efforts of an adviser who has made a positive difference in students’ academic careers. Advisers often contribute significantly to the success and growth of students at York, and it is important that advisers be recognized for their contributions.
The faculty member chosen for this award is selected by a committee of three former recipients of the award, plus two student members. This committee depends on nominations and supporting information that is provided by students. The members of the committee urge you to nominate a faculty member whom you feel has done an exceptional job of advising. It is also extremely helpful when you can provide reasons why you think the faculty member should receive the award.
Prior award recipients (Michael Jarrett, Harriet Darling, and Orsay Kucukemiroglu) and staff of the Advising and Career Center (Jane Emery, Monica Grigera, Dina Wulinsky, and Linda Matesevac) are not eligible for the award.
The Advising Award Subcommittee encourages active participation of the campus community in the selection process.
Thank you for your response and participation in the selection process. Please submit the form below electonically, or print out the form and return your nomination to the faculty staff assistant on the second floor of M.S. Grumbacher Information Sciences and Technology Center (ISTC) or to the staff assistant director of academic affairs in the Main Classroom Building. Please ask the staff assistant to place your nomination in Michael Jarrett’s mailbox. Nominations must be received by Friday, February 12, 2010, at 5:00 p.m.
