The Academic Advising Council Subcommittee of the York Campus Senate is seeking nominations for the 2013–14 Academic Advising Award. Each year an Academic Advising Award is presented at the Penn State York annual awards banquet to a faculty member who has excelled in his or her advising of students.
Penn State York Campus values quality academic advising. The Academic Advising Award recognizes the efforts of an adviser who has made a positive difference in students’ academic careers. Advisers often contribute significantly to the success and growth of students at York, and it is important that advisers be recognized for their contributions.
The faculty member chosen for this award is selected by a committee of three former recipients of the award, plus two student members. This committee depends on nominations and supporting information that is provided by students. The members of the committee urge you to nominate a faculty member whom you feel has done an exceptional job of advising. It is also extremely helpful when you can provide reasons why you think the faculty member should receive the award.
Prior award recipients (Harley Hartman, Emily Wenk and Andy Landis) and Advising and Career Development staff (Jane Emery and Andrew Caldwell) are not eligible for the award.
The Advising Award Subcommittee encourages active participation of the campus community in the selection process.
Nominations should be submitted using the online form or the form can be printed and returned to Cathy Sheaffer in Advising and Career Development in the Main Classroom Building or to the faculty staff assistant on the second floor of M.S. Grumbacher Information Sciences and Technology Center (Grumbacher). Please ask that your nomination be placed in Emily Wenk’s mailbox by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21. Thank you for your response and participation in the selection process.
