2010 Men's Baseball

Coach: Ron Workinger
Assistant Coach: Joe Royer
Semester: Fall/Spring
Program History
Penn State York baseball began in the spring of 2005 as a club sport. In the first year, players competed against regional Division III programs in scrimmage format. In the first four years of competition in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) the team played a split season format with approximately half the conference schedule played in the fall and half in the spring. The team qualified for divisional playoffs in each of the programs first three years. In 2009 a revised conference wide format was implemented. The 2010 season marks the first time since the program’s inception that all conference games will be played in the spring. The program has developed a reputation for excellence both in the classroom and on the field. Since the programs’ inception, twenty-two local lions have achieved Academic All Conference standing while an additional four players have been named Athletic All Conference. One player was distinguished to be named to both all conference teams during the same season.
PSUAC Conference
Penn State York baseball plays in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC). The conference is comprised of fifteen member locations of The Pennsylvania State University playing at the non-divisional level. Ten member institutions support varsity Baseball. The conference format provides for cumulative conference standings which determine playoff positions. Traditionally the top four qualify for playoffs in a round robin format.
The PSUAC has seen considerable growth and development in recent years with increased opportunities for Penn State student athletes. The fifteen PSUAC member institutions have provided competitive experiences for more than 1,350 student athletes in ten sports. Among the conferences greatest accomplishments is the fact that 435 student have earned Academic All Conference with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The conference champion and one at-large PSUAC member earns a bid to participate in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament.
USCAA Information
PSUAC member institutions also hold membership in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). The USCAA is a national organization that exists to provide quality athletic competition on an equal level of competition with schools of like size and athletic programs on a regional and national level for their student-athletes.
Membership provides the opportunity for the PSUAC conference champion and one conference at-large bid to participate in the USCAA national tournament/world series. Additionally, Penn State York student athletes have the opportunity to be named All American or Academic All American. Penn State York’s affiliation with the USCAA began July 1, 2008.
