The 2008 season outlook has been positive since the beginning of the preseason. With an abundance of returning players, the team’s goal is again to reach the conference championship in State College on October 26. Led by a solid defending core of sophomores John Suarez, Tyson Wright, Logan Shaffer, Joe Dizio minding the net, and newcomer Justin Shaffer, the defense will be tough to dismantle. Ben Suarez and Chris Jones will hold together a talented group of midfield players, along with freshman Cameron Beck. Returning scoring leader Suhaib Alqaddomi and freshman Tim Krohn have been leading the attack and making it difficult for opposing team’s defense.
Coach Rich Chilcoat believes the sky is the limit for the group. “We have a excellent core of returning players and a group of impressive freshman. Our goal is to get back to the conference final and ultimately continue the success of our program. The success of the program relies on local talent and we definitely have found players we are looking for to fit into our style of play.”
Coach Chilcoat named "Coach of the Year" in soccer by PSUAC

USCAA Tournament Summary
Penn State York finished fifth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament held in Pontiac, Michigan, on October 28 through October 31. They lost on opening day against Briarcliff, the eventual tournament champion, 2-0. York rebounded nicely to beat Robert Morris-Lake County, Illinois, on Thursday when freshman Justin Shaeffer launched a shot from twenty-five yards out and scored. The defense worked hard for the rest of the game to keep the score at 1-0.
On Friday a penalty kick by York sophomore Suheib Alqadommi was enough to beat Columbia Union, Maryland, the #1 seed and move the York team into fifth place nationally.
Head Coach Rich Chilcoat and Assistant Coach Ben Otterson returned with much praise for the event and the team saying, “We are clearly the youngest and most domestic team here, but we are definitely not out of place."
