Ericka Peterson is off the committee and is being replaced by Carlos, newly elected SGA president and now co-chair of the SAF committee. Kirby Chin joined us to "test the waters" in becoming a full-time member.
Proposals Reviewed
- Cecilia Heydl-Cortinez - Travel support for Madrid, Spain trip during spring break 2005. Requested $300/student up to ten students. Approved: $300/student up to twenty students or $6000. Based on a discussion at the December 2004 committee meeting, it was decided to extend the $300/student to twenty students for the four international trips for 2004/05 pending a year-end review to determine whether it was economically feasible to continue at this level of funding. The concern is spending 25 percent of the available student activity fee on international travel that only covers up to eighty students.
- Suzanne Flinchbaugh - Travel support for Paris, France trip during spring break 2005. Requested $300/student up to twenty students. Approved: $6000. - Lion Ambassadors - Halloween candy to be distributed to the campus community on Friday, October 29, 2004. Requested: $85. Approved: $85
- Kendo Club - Nekocon #7 trip in Chesapeake, Virginia. Is this a conference? If so, must do campus presentation upon their return. Requested: $738. Approved: $738 representing $35/person registration fee for up to twenty-one participants.
- CAS Club - Convention attendance in November at the National Communication Convention in Chicago, IL. Must do a campus presentation upon their return. Requested: $2184 for eight students. Approved: $65/student registration fee for as many students as want to go.
- Tony Stelly - York Little Theater tickets to see "Death of a Salesman in November. Tickets are $37/person. It appears that Mr. Stelly is asking for funding for only his class. He will be informed that the activity must be open to all or funding will not be forthcoming. Requested: $481 (37 students x $13/ticket). Approved: $10/student for as many students as want to attend.
- Suzanne Gladfelter - Business Dining Etiquette program. Requested: $1800 (100 students x $18/dinner). Approved: $18/student up to 100 students; will not pay for non-students. Precedent set. Must advertise more extensively; committee members commented that it was primarily word of mouth last year.
- Asian Entertainment Club - trip to Boston to see the Lord of the Rings exhibit at the Boston Museum of Science. Requested: $1182. Approved: $19/student museum ticket for as many students as want to go.
