Student Activity Fee Meeting Minutes

February 4, 2005

Present: Carlos Alejandre, Shilvolsky Buffaloe, Sharon Christ, Chasity Frederick, Xin Li, Leanne Miller, Joe Royer, Virginia Slothour.

Absent: Marilyn Rodriquez (new).

Proposals Reviewed

  1. Scott Simonds for Student Affairs: funding for 2, 47-passenger coach buses ($1400 each) and 47 Broadway theater tickets ($75 each) for a NYC trip in April, 05. Requested: $3975 (actual expenditure will be $1155 after income). Approved: $3975. PSY student cost is $10/person for the bus and $40/ticket for the theater; non PSY students pay $30 for the bus and $75 for the theater tickets.
  2. Karen McElwain for the Belly Dancing Club: funding for a 2-day workshop on belly dancing to include 8 hours of lessons and 1 performance by a master teacher. Requested: $1850. Approved: up to $1850 with the following requirements - there must be a minimum of 10 PSY students signed up; each student must put down a $10 which will be returned to them at the conclusion of the 2-day workshop; if the workshop is opened to the public, a $100 fee must be charged to recoup some funding.
  3. Heidi Deren for the German 200 class: funding for a bus to the National Holocaust Museum. Requested: $600. Approved: $400 with an additional $200 coming from Academic Affairs.
