Student Activity Fee Meeting Minutes

March 20, 2009

Present: Sharon Christ, Krupali Desai, Matthew Dunlap, Andy Landis, Rosemery Liriano, and Joe Royer Not present: Rohan Chitalia (resigned as SGA president), Chris Leverette, Todd Gutierrez, Kashmeera Kundargi, and Husing Vang

  1. Old Business
    1. SGA proposal including Rally at the Rotunda, Game Show, Club Fair. Rally in the Rotunda - refreshments were funded; bus cancelled since nobody signed up.  Game Show - for February was funded; no Game Show hosted in March.  Club Fair ­ unclear as to what funding was for; requested denied.

  2. Proposals
    1. Development Office/Di Hershey - York Revolution tickets for the May 3 White Out. Requested: $1,000. Received: $1,000. Discussion: 163 students participated last year; precedent set; good use of student activity fee money.

    2. Student Dean Femera ­ weight equipment for Fitness Center.  Requested: $500. Received: $0. Discussion: tabled for further discussion: dumbbells approved, belts last purchased in fall 2007 and will check on their condition, knee/hand wraps appear to be more of a personal item versus usable my multiple students.  If this is for a class there will be no funding. If this is for a club there may be partial funding.  If this is for general student use, will get maximum funding that is appropriate.  Will clarify with athletic director before final awarding.

    3. Dr. Cecilia Heydl-Cortinez ­ forty-seven passenger bus and 1/2 price tickets to the Philadelphia Museum of Art on April 4, 2009.  Requested:  $1,416.  Received $1,416. Discussion: students to pay $5 each for daylong trip open to the campus.

    4. Bill VanGreen/Security ­ eight-hour self-defense course for students at Penn State York. $35/participant is total cost; students would pay $5.  Requested: $1,200 Which is $30/student up to fortystudents. Received:  $1,200. Discussion: appropriate use of funds and open to the campus.

    5. Lion Ambassadors ­ 1/2 price Hershey Park tickets. Requested:  $2,700. Received: $2,700 for 200 1/2 price tickets. Discussion: Students will pay $15/ticket versus $28.50. Highly successful in 2007-08.
