Penn State York Child Care Assistance Information

  1. Degree, provisional, nondegree and noncredit students who are enrolled full or part-time are eligible for assistance.
  2. Students currently receiving subsidized child care through public assistance or other sources may not apply for campus subsidies.
  3. The child/children must be registered with a licensed day care center or family home provider. The center must provide a current copy of their state license to the Student Affairs Office.
  4. Students enrolled in credit courses may receive a child care subsidy of $2.50 for each registered credit per semester. (example: registered 15 credits X $2.50 = $37.50 per week.)
  5. Students enrolled in noncredit courses may receive a child care subsidy of $2.50 per classroom hours per semester. (example: course meets for three hours / week X $2.50 = $7.50 per week.)
  6. Students with more than one child in child care will receive $2.50 for each registered credit (if enrolled in credit courses) or each classroom hour (if enrolled in noncredit courses) for the first child and $2.25 for each registered credit or each classroom hour for the second child.
    Example:
    Credit courses:
    registered 15 credits X $2.50 = $37.50 / week (first child)
    registered 15 credits X $2.25 = $33.75 / week (second or more children)

    Noncredit courses:
    Course meets 3 hours / week X $2.50 = $7.50 / week (first child)
    Course meets 3 hours / week X $2.25 = $6.75 / week (second or more children)
  7. Notice of intent to continue child care assistance must be made to the Student Affairs Office one month prior to the start of each semester. Applications are available in the Student Affairs Office (Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center), the Bookstore (ISTC), the Advising and Career Center, and the reception desk (Main Classroom Building).
  8. Penn State York will make payment directly to the child care facility twice during the semester.
