New students and their families will receive their official welcome to campus during Penn State York's annual New Student Convocation set for Thursday, August 31 at 4:30 p.m. in the gym of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.

The program includes welcoming remarks from the campus executive officer, student government president and faculty.

Following the opening ceremonies, students and their families will meet with faculty advisers and then gather for a campuswide picnic. Last year more than 700 students and their families took part in convocation.

This program is the final phase of orientation and provides students and their families the opportunity to get to know faculty and staff at the campus. The hope is students will feel more comfortable for the start of day classes.
