The week of April 2 is Career Week at Penn State York! The Advising and Career Development office and Alumni Relations are working together to make this an exciting week for students with many ways to get involved. Each day will feature an event designed to encourage students to take a proactive approach to their career planning by highlighting the resources available to Penn State York students and by connecting them with alumni who have achieved success in their respective fields.
Penn State York will host Dr. Jonathan Spanos, Monday, April 2. Dr. Spanos has extensive experience in homeland security, public safety, and information technology. He attended Penn State York before completing his undergraduate degree at University Park. He will discuss social networking and the potential effects of one’s online presence on their career.
The Advising and Career Development will host a workshop on Tuesday, April 3 at noon, for students planning to attend the Career Networking Event later in the week. Students will learn about the importance of successful networking, etiquette, and other tips to have a positive experience at the event and beyond.
Career Week continues on Wednesday evening with a speaker, Lee Rubin, Penn State alum who has been successful as a speaker, author, human resources professional, and as a Nittany Lion football player. In addition to speaking, Rubin will be available to answer questions.
Career Week activities conclude on Thursday, April 5 with the Career Networking Event. This event provides an excellent opportunity for students to connect and interact with professionals (many of whom are Penn State alumni) in a variety of fields including engineering, business, human resources, and nonprofit. A light lunch and refreshments will be served. As with all Career Week activities, the networking event is free to students. Please contact Andrew Caldwell at apc2@psu.edu with questions about any of the Career Week activities.
