Physics 213:
Physics 213 is taken in the second year (forth semester) by most
Science and Engineering majors. It is a continuation of Physics 211
(Mechanics) and Physics 212 (Electricity and Magnetism) and covers basic
concepts in fluids and thermodynamics.
There is one lecture (50 minutes) and one collaborative activity class (110
minutes) every week. |
 |
Physics 212:
Physics 212 is taken in the second year
(third semester) by most Science and
Engineering majors. Prerequisites for this course are Phys 211 and Math 141. It is a calculus based physics course which covers most
topics in Electricity and Magnetism. The course is taught in three
lectures, and one lab per week format with extensive active and collaborative
student participation. This course is a modification of Physics 202.

 |
Physics 001:
This physics course is taught at a conceptual level covering basic
concepts of physical science. The level of
math required is basic arithmetic and algebra. This course is primarily
meant for Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Science students (students in
non-technical fields) who have to take a natural science course as general
education requirement. There are three lectures every week. |
 |
Physics 151/251: These two courses are
taught together because of the similarity in their course content. They cover
basic concepts in optics and electricity and magnetism. The math
background required is basic algebra and trigonometry. There are three
lectures and one lab every week. |
 |
Physics 211: Physics 211 is taken in the first year by most Science and
Engineering majors. It is a calculus based physics course which covers most
topics in Mechanics: motion, force, Newton's laws, energy, collisions and
rotation. Math 140 is an essential prerequisite for this course. It is taught in two lectures, one
recitation and one lab per week format with extensive active and
collaborative student participation. This course is a modification of Physics
201. The computer based active and collaborative
laboratory component has replaced one of the three lectures in Physics 201.

 |
Physics 214:
Physics 214 is taken concurrently with Physics 213 by most
Science and Engineering majors. It covers Wave Motion (Sound and
Light) and Quantum Mechanics. It also is taught in one lecture
and one collaborative lab format. Prerequisites for this course are
Phys 211 and Math 141. |
