The Lynda Barry Experience

Lynda Barry is a multi-media artist. She's a cartoonist, painter, and essayist. She's written a novel and a play, The Good Times Are Killing Me. And she contributes to National Public Radio's Morning Edition.

In class--INART 010--we'll take an hour to examine her work, especially the comic strip Barry publishes weekly in the Village Voice. We'll respond to this work with a special journal assignment. After cataloging the features of Barry's work, you'll be asked to draw and submit a comic strip--modeled directly on what you've seen. I'll, then, digitally scan your strip, link it to this web page, and display it on the W3.
