Professional Experience

Mevatec Corporation
May 1997 to Present
Senior Network Technician
Responsible for support of the US DOT IDN (Intermodal Data Network). Support includes router maintenance, network configuration assistance to DOT agencies, TCP/IP management, and product and technology evaluation for future implementation on DOT networks.

Advanced Management Technology, Inc.
July 1993 to May 1997
Systems Engineer
Performed Webmaster duties for the primary DOT web server. I also provide security audits on UNIX hosts and evaluate and install security tools on hosts at the request of system administrators. Also developed a prototype Intranet server network to distribute documents and information within the Department.

Other efforts included the development of a dial-up telecommuting system for DOT employees. The system can support remote IPX (for Netware users), SLIP/PPP for TCP/IP based applications, and ARAP (Appletalk Remote Access Protocol) for Macintosh users all through the same modems and hardware.

Past accomplishments include the implementation of a 100mb FDDI backbone for the DOT with a 100% fiber-optic distribution infrastructure. I also developed the early client-server SNMP management system used on the backbone (Cabletron's Spectrum) run on a SGI workstation. This system included 7 clients distributed throughout the various DOT administrations.

Information Systems and Services, Inc.
August 1992 through June 1993
Network Engineer
Worked as a network technician to maintain an existing 10mb Ethernet backbone at the DOT headquarters. Gained experience with T-1 data circuits, bridges, routers, and terminal server hardware. During this period, I assisted with the development of DOT's first true internet services with the installation of a 56kb leased circuit and a single AT&T 3B2 host.
