Penn State - York EGT 101: Technical Drawing Marge Runkle, Instructor Course Objectives || Text, Materials & Supplies || Grades Course Description: Technical skills and drafting room practices; fundamentals of theoretical graphics; and, orthographic projection including sectional and auxiliary views. Objectives: Develop an understanding of the importance and variety of Engineering Drawing, organizations, and literature in a variety of media Familiarize students with engineering terminology Develop basic skills necessary for communicating graphically the needs, ideas, and requirements of an industrial manufacturing environment in the following areas: Lettering (Power/Speed Method) Geometric Construction Sketching Orthographic Construction with a focus on the logical and orderly method of linework development for future implementation when using CAD Dimensioning Techniques with a focus on Datum Dimensioning techniques for future implementation when CNC production methods are to be employed Section Drawing Auxiliary Drawing Create and maintain a portfolio of work and a resume Return to Top Course Materials and Supplies: TEXT:Technical Drawing, Giesecke et al, 11th Edition Reference Web Site: Giesecke on the Web http://cw.prenhall.com/bookbind/pubbooks/giesecke/ SUPPLIES: Drafting Kit Quadruled Paper (4 x 4) Tape Vellum, 8.5 x 11 ("A" Size) 2 Artgum Erasers Exacto Knife Drafting Tape 3.5" Floppy Disk (formatted) Return to Top Grades Students will be expected to complete a variety of drawings of progressive competencies, difficulty and practical application in order to practice the techniques presently used by Board and CAD Drafters, Technicians, and Engineers in the field. Students will be given teacher developed tests to evaluate their drafting accuracy, neatness, legibility, and presentation of drawings as they would meet the requirements of ANSI Drawing Standards, which relates to general national drawing standards as described in the course text.
