Position Statement 11th Grade

For this writing assignment you will take a negative and a positive position on the issue of smoking which we discussed in class. You will express your opinion and feelings and state logical reasons for your feelings on this subject.

Do you have an opposing argument and want to refute it? (Refute means to prove that it is wrong.) End with a clear restatement of your position.

Each group member must choose a topic about smoking that the group agrees on and research it. Each member is responsible for writing a 150-300 word paragraph on the chosen topic. The paragraphs will be arranged in a logical order to form a three or four paragraph research paper to be handed in and graded.

Plus, as a group, a collage on the topic of smoking will be designed and constructed and each group member will prepare a PERSONAL STATEMENT (your opinion on smoking). BOTH of these assignments will be presented to the class.
