American Library Association Home Page

Here at this site resides the American Library Association and all of its subsidary committees and specific areas of interest including booklists and awards. The following are of importance to the Young Adult Librarian:

ALAN: The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents http://english.byu.edu/alan/alan.htm
The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents is one of the NCTE's special-interest groups. Founded in November 1973, ALAN is made up of teachers, authors, librarians, publishers, teacher-educators and their students, and others who are particularly interested in the area of young adult literature. ALAN is self-governing, holds its annual meetings and creates its program during the NCTE annual convention in November, and publishes The ALAN Review.

Booklist
http://www.ala.org/booklist/
Welcome to the digital counterpart of the American Library Association's Booklist magazine. For more than 90 years, Booklist has been the librarian's leading choice for reviews of the latest books and (more recently) electronic media. We also publish a wide variety of feature articles including author interviews, bibliographies, book-related essays by well-known writers, and a selection of columns.

School Library Journal Online
http://www.bookwire.com/slj/
School Library Journal, the print magazine, and now, School Library Journal Online, the web site, serve librarians who work with young people in school and public libraries. The two publications give librarians indispensable information needed to manage libraries, from creating high-quality collections to understanding how technology can assist -- or hinder -- learning.
