Working within a relatively small organization, it is necessary to be flexible. My next project may involve the company intranet or a joint effort with the network specialists. In either case, my Penn State education prepared me to participate in this wide range of potential assignments. Many of the skills that I rely on are intangible. My ability to communicate effectively, pay attention to details, provide proper documentation, and understand and solve problems are a result of the Penn State IST curriculum. All of my IST courses have stressed the importance of these skills in one form or another. The integrity and insight of the entire IST environment at Penn State York has related crucially to my internship.

At Penn State York, we strive not only to develop IST students' technical skills but also to improve their communications and interpersonal skills. We want our students to be well-prepared for the professional workplace environment when they leave Penn State York.

One way that we assist our students in preparing for their profession is through a Professional Dining Etiquette experience.
